What are doorway pages?

[ryansmith]

Doorway Pages work like as a bridge. When an online user clicks on an hyperlink or Anchor text and land on a specific destination called Doorway Pages.

Doorway Pages are Web pages designed and built specifically to draw search engine visitors to your website. They are standalone pages designed only to act as doorways to your site. Doorway pages are a very bad idea for several reasons, though many SEO firms use them routinely.

I agree that this is not an ethical way to attract people, but if SEO firms are using that technique, does it mean that it does not hurt the destination website's SEO? Does it mean that Google does not detect it (yet) and penalize it as a bad practice?

These pages are actually a collection of spamming link pages. Most of the doorway page owners do this as a business. They charge money to keep links in his page.
