Steve M, please walk me through this!

Sounds like the blog vender you are using is working well.

What is each step i need to take to set up a blog for this site?

Its very difficult to give any advice not knowing your setup, if you have fantastico on your hosting package you can install the blog software easily, if a company manages it for you you can ask them to install it for you but you will need ftp access to modify it to any extent.

You can start a trial by using wordpress or blogger and have a limited features blog but you may want to have more control over the look and feel of your blog as well as your own domain name to access it.

I can see a blog working well for your site because you can get some interest in your products before they get the flash intro from your website, have links direct from your blog to the specific sections of your website.

Many customers will hit the back button to the search engine when they see your flash intro, accessing it through your blog will bring them back to your blog where they can see that you can supply the services that they want.

just because Google only consider one site to rank, if you have two sites with same content.
