Search Engine Spider Simulator

Post by peterko »

Thank you guys,

Your advice is really helpful ! :D
That Search Engine Spider Simulator is simply the Best.
I found some bugs looking at my site with the eyes of Spider Simulator.

Now I understand what Akash mean by saying to redesign website in terms of moving some parts of the site. Guess it won't be so fast but I will definitelly consider that.

Best regards,

You can hav the nav on the left, but make sure you design your site in a table so that it splits the diferent parts up.

That is what I have done with my site. I have put the main text out of the table at the top so it gets indexed first and this enables me to have a left and right menu inside the table.

No, users naturally use left side navigation when they are browsing sites. You might want to check it out in some other forums because that is how its going. If you dont care about your customer then you can put the nav on the right, but according to numerous surveys, customers respond well to left side navs. I have my site in tables and the content is in the center. The se's pick it up fine, but yes tables are important. You have to know how to balance the users view of the site and the spiders view. Once you accomplish that, you are golden!

Redesign a website

Post by peterko »

Hi guys,

Take a look how I redesigned my site with the right hand side navigation. I was trying to follow Akash's advice to make the spider happy with my content. Now I see the Spider Simulator displays the content first.

I was just wondering didn't I screw up the visitor's impression by the changes I made? I would very appreciate your opinion.

I am also concerned how all these changes will affect my site rankings.
I know Google dosn't like when so many changes done at one shot.
Let's see. I will let you know the results.

Going back to where we started - Prediction Tools, I was wondering what kind of predictin those tools will give to my site.

Your comments are greatly appreciated. :D

Best regards,

Redesign the website

Post by peterko »

Thanks Akash,

Hopefully it will increase my site ranking, otherwise all those manipulation with a site don't make any sence. I have no idea how long it might take to see some effect, but I will let you know if any results.

Best regards,

To see the changes on ranking

Post by peterko »

Guys, I still don't have a clear understanding, why all major spiders come to my site on a daily basis (I see it on my log), and at the same time, it takes a month or longer to see the results of changes I made.

I am doing content changes almost every two or three days, because my site is a shopping & coupon site, I have to make those content changes.

Now the question is - if the SEs are so slow to follow the changes made by webmasters, does it make sense to update the shopping site content frequently (or any other sites)?

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Little factors

Post by peterko »

Hey Akash,

Thanks for advice. Talking about "little factors" as you call them. They require too much work, it's far from "little".

Here is my question: is it really worth it to make big efforts with "little factors", or to spend much more time and money on finding good quality inbound links, which in the long run might bring the link popularity?

I understand that's a silly question, but seriously - all those manipulations with left or right hand site location of my content, does it really make a difference, or HIGHT QUALITY LINKS will cover my big efforts with the "little factors".

Best regards,

Peter,

Everything is necessary to gain good rankings on the engines. Little or big, they all have to be done to get results. Yes some take longer than others, but you will be happy with the results. As for the linking, this process is never over, you will do this as long as you have your site!

the thing with menu positioning is that it determines what is at the top of your webpage in terms of what the spider can see. The top of the webpage is deemed more important and it is elements here that SEs use as a major keyword source along with the title meta tag.

So if your menu appears right at the top and your text underneath, then your site will have less priority in the rankings.

I would say it is a major factor but has to be done along with link building for it to work.

Concentrate on getting title tag with keywords that appear on your site. Especially in the first few paragraphs of text. keyword density of the page should be around 4 to 8%/
