my opinion google ranking factor is many but mostly use full in incoming links and quailty links and increase website top ranking......

Lately some other factors are getting into the game according to what I heard. Having a good presence in different blogs will help from a backlink perspective.

Curious thing is that pages with PR zero sometimes appear in top five searches.

Does anyone know why?

In short, only three elements, structure + content + links

Pretty much if your site is regularly used your PR will go up, the amount of time your domain has been in the internet, and the amount of links you have to your page give you PR. cause without this your importance to the search engine is zero, you always want to show that your URL is important concerning the keyword being showed.
