Does anyone know exactly what the Google Supplemental Index is?

The supplemental index means the pages that are considered duplicates or near duplicates of other pages.

If my site has duplicate content from other sites, its totally by coincidence because I've created all my pages from scratch, by myself...

well don't let SE bots crawl those pages that are not ready, use <meta name="ROBOTS" content="noindex,nofollow">

change "noindex" to "index" and "nofollow" to "follow" when page is ready...

Well sometimes this Forum softwares also make a lot of junk content like "Post, Threads, PM, Website" etc...

This makes SE think it is all duplicate content. Thus pushing the pages in supplemental index.

one possible reason why a site show a supplemental result/ or the index is supplemental is the canonical issue. Canonicalization is the process of picking the best url when there are several choices, and it usually refers to home pages. like using the www or non-www. When Google “canonicalizes” a url, we try to pick the url that seems like the best representative from that set.

For example, don’t make half of your links go to http://example.com/ and the other half go to http://www.example.com/ . Instead, pick the url you prefer and always use that format for your internal links.

i think if you want any page get out of supplement index, just give one link from good pr website.

supplemental result in google as of last 2 weeks cant be detected anymore... they did that for better search result of the browsers...
