I would like to hear about google duplicate content penalty. Please help me.

The penality may be that your site may loose ranking for a while till the duplicate content is there and the fresh content is not crawled by google

Thanks, that was informative. But my observation is that you can get good page rank even with duplicate content if you have good quality inbound links.

I've heard something about Google Duplicate Content penalties, and I'll be honest I even had some duplicate content on my site. But now I am trying not to use it.

If you know that you have some duplicate content, you would rather try to get rid of it. First of all check if you store any backup pages with the same content somewhere on your server. If you do that, then put your backup copies somewhere else. Or do the following: move the duplicate pages to the backup folder and then use robots.txt file to exclude search engines from indexing that folder. After that your internal duplicate content will not be indexed.

Have you ever tried the Copyscape services for checking the duplicates?
Try it, it's great. It gives you an idea, from where the content is taken, and you can see the external sites with that content.

Agreed...duplicate content results in being placed in the supplemental index and your pages won't show up in the normal SERPs.

Inbound links to those pages can help you get out of the supplemental index...

Yeah, inbound links will remove you from a supplemental result and fresh quality.
