I don't know why people make a big fuzz of the PageRank bar.

My friend forget PR and focus on writing quality content. You can have a less than 10 links pointing to your site and still rank top in Google. Yahoo and MSN for popular keywords and phrases. It is not quanity, but quality of links.

I personally think that the PR indicator is just a way for Google to get more people to install their toolbar. It is basically there for entertainment purposes. A gimmick.

It is so simple to get your website ranked in the top 10 SERPs without having a high pagerank or none at all.

I have a website that have over 3000 different keywords and phrases in the top 10 ib Google SERPs.
Another website over 2000 keywords in the top 10.

I have two single digit keyword that is in the top 100 from 6.5 billion websites in Google SERPs.

Some of my websites have 10 backlinks and others 100+

Forget the green PR bar and focus on writing quality content. If I had the choice of Google PR bar or bar. I would rather go to the second bar and have a drink.

I woud wish everyone to be such sucessful as you are. But I doubt everything is so easy as you describe it.

PR is still important. Its one element in the mix of factors Google uses to rate sites.

no, it is NOT for fun or entertainment!!
pr is like a scale to evaluate your site. indeed you can clearly see that, a good website has high pr but not a bad site.
content is no doubt very important but you cannot evaluate if you donot have a pr toolbar.

no one knows the true meaning of the PR rank (maybe Google being the exception).

I do know that it is a massive publicity tool that they are using, look at how many people have asked questions on it here, it has achieved prominent talking point on all seo forums and websites, if they had a statement telling everyone exactly what it means there would be no reason to discus its benefits lack of benefits, people would probably discuss general seo methods and go away from the google specific discussion.

There are 2 more rank bars at the bottom of my firefox browser Alexa and Compete, I dont know what these are for (Alexa I have a little knowledge) but it appears they are jumping on the Google bandwagon.

Pr is not just for entertainment but it is one of the most important factor of a site. It is not a gimmick to have a page rank but it is the way on how we improved our site. Quality content and backlinks is much more important

The Google PR bar is way out of date, I have read that it can be up to 6 months out.

I dont think otherwise too. Getting High PR is not a joke. This could seriously effect the business. If you move/expand your business online then all these things have to keep in the roots of the mind..
