Hi everyone,
i started a website about 3 months ago so i am pretty new to this game, ive read on backlinks, submitting articles and blogs blah blah, but when i use a link popularity checker on my site sites like google, hotbot, ask isee nothing absolutely nothing, but others like yahoo, msn etc my links are in the 3000's.

Ive used IBP and Arelis to optimise, infact ive worked my fingers to the bone (as i cant afford decent advertising yet) and i would hate to think that it is all in vain.

can someone tell me why this is happening, and will google ever link me.

google is very strict in counting backlink. if google is NONE link while you are using: link:www.yourdomain.com means that:
1. you donot have any backlinks yet or,
2. it is not the time google updates its backlink so perhaps you have some links but not yet indexed by google.

continue to do exchange links with relevant good pr sites, build quality content...then wait a bit, google will count you.

Ive been chatting to an seo expert type person and hes advised me not to pin all my hopes and dreams on google and page rank (even though im well aware they may both be a major factor in the business im in), i guess ill just keep doing what im doing and hopefully the customers i already have will refer other people.

It's important to choose the proper keywords for each landing page.

These keywords should be used in HTML page titles, meta-description and
meta-keyword tags (as well as the page text).

Also, as previous replies have indicated, backlinks are also important and
are used by Google to gauge the perceived "value" of your site.

1.Study your site.
2.Research keywords and make list of keywords releted to your site or product.
3.Write a good discription about your product and services.
4.Use your most important keyword in title tag.
5.Optimize meta tag.
6.Search engine submission.
7.Directory submission.
8.Linkexchange

What do you mean your site is not indexed by google? how long is your site? can you share with us your URL?

You will countinue with your efforts & wait for next google update............

Also, your web site is targeting a very competitive area such as hosting. Try and be more specific and find your niche, for example, co-location hosting, virtual hosting for small business etc. etc.

And yes, more links and add more page copy. Suggest an additional 50 words on the home page to include your niche area. All the best!

Rather use webmaster tools to see actual backlinks.
