Google & Yahoo, competition or coincident

Hi everybody,

I was wondering about Google and Yahoo backlinks, do they really have different values.

Here is the story. My backlinks listing by Yahoo is almost 3000 thousands bigger than at Google (2980 vs 22). My major keywords SERP results by Google are pretty good, but Yahoo pushed me back no one knows where since their last update.

It seems to me the much smaller number of backlinks by Google worth even more than the bigger number of Yahoo backlinks.

So, I have questions, why it happened that way? Is it result of competion between Yahoo & Google or it's a coincident? Trying to find the logic and figure it out what should be the number of backlinks listed on Yahoo in order to make better Yahoo SERP? Any igea?

Google and Yahoo has their own way in getting backlinks from a site.. as i've observed in yahoo,, they were updating backlinks more often, i think 2 weeks, compare to google, who is updating every 3-4months...

Actually, my original question was focusing on the following:
"backlinks listing by Yahoo is almost 3000 thousands bigger than at Google (2980 vs 22)", but Yahoo SERP by major keywords is much worse than in Google (with less number of backlinks listed). Any idea?

The thing is that Google doesn´t just count 22 backlinks to your site, but probably many more. However, Google doesn´t show but a small portion of those links by searching link:w... If you want to know the total number of links that Google accounts you´ll need to sign up to the Google Webmaster Tools and you´ll get the whole picture

Thanks, I get your idea. But still wondering why did they pick the number "22", where did they get it, and why no other number?

Google only displays quality links not sure how they work it out but thats why they only show 22 links because they are quality links.

Yeah, QUALITY is a good word. The only thing it's hard to explain what the quality means when it comes to the links. I've already noticed some links with the lower PR have more value than the links with bigger PR, does it mean they have better quality?
