Google cutting contractor workforce

The contractor cut story made the rounds Monday after publication of a Silicon Valley WebGuild story with the alarming headline of "Google Layoffs - 10,000 Workers Affected." The 10,000 number and Google's efforts to reduce it, though, emerged in October in a San Jose Mercury News story, and it's not clear exactly how many will lose a job.

That's pretty huge number, do you think it will affects Google Adsense? I think not or maybe not much.

Every company uses downturns to lay-off slackers and optimize operations ... Google is no different. It is a smart move by big business, and actually shows strength (to a certain extent)

I don't know the details of the layoffs, but my understanding is that it happened over a 3-4 month timeframe... so it is likely a planned rollout, not a sudden "oh-crap" moment.
