Hi Guys,

Some have it some don't.

Example:

www.domain.com and www.domain.com/index.html

what's the big difference? How can you avoid the latter?

The two probably considered different pages, the latter is not normally used for it pertains to the first one and relating to configuration of site in hosting. Just don't build links with that file name and extension, just the default home page which is also formal.

The index.html file is usually the main file that creates the main page of the site. If you put a link back to your homepage within your internal page as

<a href="/index.html">Homepage</a>

, then search engine crawler will read it as with the extension.
