PageRank is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references.

I think you are referring to the recent Google PR Update, the total number of backlink is a determining factor in order to acquire page rank. However quality is more important than quantity. Getting one or two backlinks from related sites or authority sites is much valuable rather getting tons of backlinks from unrelated sites.

PR doesn't really mean much other than distributing link juice to your other pages, or other sites. For rankings, it means NOTHING
I have had sites with a pr3 pr4 outrank pr6 pr7 sites. And it happens on basically every search.
If you have the correct on page optimization, and backlinks with the right anchor text, than expect to not care about your PR as you climb to the top.

no matter its another copy paste article but i really never read this article before yet ... So its nice sharing for my kind of peoples those are not surfing ne regularly For these kind of article . isn't it?
