See i have a site which is in top 10 sites for a certain keyword, but suddenly it dropped and currently in 10 or 12th page.

My question is
I have a backlinks for that site around 10, should i regularly increase the backlinks inorder to stay in the top

i think it will depends on the quantity and quality of your backlinks and how you use your keywords to stay in the ranking ;D

You don't know what are your competitors strategies, they probably gaining new strong backlinks that makes them strong to be on top. You should do the same, plus keep yourself updated with what latest in SEO world.

Must maintain your site SEO is a continues process so don't stop building quality links.
