but for me google is the giant search engine

google is number one that's why the record each and every single detail that a user do. of course to prevent spam and google ads illegal doings.

Almost SE are same in the Searching.. better try new from MSN ---BING -- also ...

I think what the OP is asking is, is there a Search Engine that doesn't keep records on what you are doing based on your searches. It doesnt suprise me that Google does this, nor should it come as a surprise that Yahoo and Micrsoft do the same. By monitoring Search habits they use this information to adjust advertisement and work to fill potential voids in their algorthms.

Does this potentially invade ones privacy? That is a gray area since the Search Engine doesnt really know who you are (i dont think they log IP Addresses).

I know you can see your search history if you have been using a google account. You can see what you have been looking for way back in time, but I don't mind. It does deliver the most relevant results, so I don't care if they use my history data to enhance the results.

Google give results depending on what they have indexed, their algorithm and according to visitor behavior of searching resulting to very relevant results. You can't take that away since it is a core for quality of results.

Do you mean that they save every searches that you made? The saved searches actually kept by your PC's cookies / cache. You can clear them from option.
