The less unique contents you have you have in your website the less webpages from your website will be indexed. Search engines do not index duplicate content, if they were indexing duplicate content then what would be the use of copyscape or dupeproof for checking contents for duplicacy.

SEs just hate duplicate content. You will not only lose your ranking but you could be penalized for this spamming.

yeah surely you will lost your ranking in se's because no Search engine likes duplicate content , so never ever try to have duplicate content on your site

Google penalize certain sites that post duplicate content taken from the other source. When Google scan and saw a sample of it, they immediately stripped off and totally remove a page from its index.

Not only effecing on ranking some time may penalize and kick ur site from SERP. After coming back is very hard.. so has to be very carefull on duplication

Yes, that would hurt you ranking. Try to minimized the duplicate contents of your site.

But there is no penalty for duplicate content. Google said (in Matt's blog) there is no penalty exists for duplicate content issue. But if two similar posts found google will give value to the possible source only.
So in my opinion nothing to worry for duplicate content issue. It is better avoid duplicate contents and create more unique contents in your website.

if i submit one article to different blogs that i handled, would it be considered duplicate content?
