Search Enginges database is a collection of websites.If the flow of traffic towards a particular website is high, then it will contribute to PR of a Web Site.

People always says that PR is contributed by number of backlinks to a site.

Generalizing the above statement, if the flow of traffic(may be from backlinks) towards a particular site(in database of google) is high then it will contribute to Google PR of a WebSite.

Search Engine ranking is also one of the factor that generates the traffic to a site.If ur site is in top results for the targetted keywords, u will have good traffic to your site.

SEs looks for keywords in title, descrription and in content of the page to generate the results for the query.

So, if the visitors query matches with the keywords in title and desc, ur site may be at the top in SERPs.Since ur site is gettig good traffic, it will be accounted for PR of ur website.

Yes, more quality backlinks means good PR but, remember backlinks are the source of traffic to a WebSite.Traffic can also be from SEs(if you are at the top in SERPs)

Thus we can say that Meta Tags have their effect on PR of a particular website.

Nice post! I also think that PR is not solely based on backlinks. Onpage factors such as content and metatags contribute to a site's page rank.

Yeah I think too that PR includes both backlinks and it's contents. We can't rate a site with too many backlinks when it no content or interesting content.

There are really many factors to consider in getting a good pagerank. But in the end, you should focus on achieving a good SERP. Ranking is the most important thing.

I don't think PageRank is related to Meta at all. And PR does not determine your position for any given keyword either.

In my best of knowledge Page Rank of a domain name has no relationship with meta tags. It is based on the weight given by valid backlinks .

Yes it is possible to have a website with high SERP and low PR . Page Rank is the only one factor to decide SERP and there are many other factors.

Meta tags are on-page optimization, not included into PR's algo. It's a way of telling search engines of which keyword is important for the page.

Backlinks are related to PR, and Meta Tags are for the site's description.

They are two different things.
