I've never experienced this as we use adwords and our rankings never changed. Hopefully someone here can help you out. I would think they are two separate things but i don't work for google.

I'm kinda surprised that you experienced such problems. I'm generally impressed with Google's customer service. They always answer my queries very promptly.

Has anyone experienced any problems with Google business listing after starting a Google adwords account. We were ranked number 2 under some pretty good keywords int he business listing and as soon as we set up an adwords account and clicked activate our business listing disappeared. We called Goog0le and they said the 2 have nothing to do with each other but we seen it with our own eyes. We even paused the adwords campaign and the listing reappeared. The guys at Googel said let the adwords account run awhile and it would probably adjust and come back. We ran the account out(it was a prepaid account) adn the business listing has never come back. In fact it says the account is active but there are no impressions and no actions like there were when we were ranking good. Our listing doesnt even show up when we type our business name in. So computer PC company comes up. I think they need to look into this because all i can find online is people with all sorts of weird problems like other peoples numbers showing up on the wrong listings. Lots of complaints and no answers. Anyway if anyone knows any work around on this let me know. Also does anyone know if the timezone settings in wordpress have anything to do with ranking organically adn in the business listing. Another weird thing was we accidentally set our time zone to denver in our wordpress and we were getting calls from people in denver wondering how a dallas company was showing up in the denver business lsiting. Maybe there's a coincidence of google algorithm update happening over local listing.. maybe it's a new case and hope your query could get Google's attention for that case..
