There are some aspects which could be seen as drawbacks of SEO:
1. Risk of being penalized
2. SEO has no guarantee that you must appear in 1st page ranking
3. Sometimes SEO Requires a big investment for highly competitive niche
4. SEO results take time to be in action

Doing blackhat SEO like keyword stuffing, link cloaking, creating massive backlinks at a go etc. Google frowns at these methods and may downgrade your website instantly for trying to trick it into ranking you high in search engine results.

SEO comes with more benefits and fewer drawbacks which are negligible.
