Google doesn't show all the backlinks. It updates the number of BLs regularly. If you want to get a more comprehensive result, check your site using backlinkwatch.

google have a time period for update backlink and page rank so you can check your link from other site that not show with link:<your address> using google webmaster tool.

It can be the case that G is not showing all of the backlinks but it will show some of them. Check the backlinks using other tool and find the result. How many backlinks you have made till now?

well google don't show all of the back links a site have, if you want to check your total amount of back links in google then you can check them at google webmaster tools, there you can see all of site those are linking to your site, but in google search you can't find them all because of some security reasons i don't know what kind of security but it does

Google Webmasters Tool gives more accurate backlinks count than using "link:site" command.

Google only shows those links which are relevant and which have PR. Furthermore, those links have to be cached.

when the pages cached again where you have put your link, you will find your backlinks. and
command for finding backlinks in google is
link:
http://yoururl.com/

i you should let google crawl you links so that there are results if you search for your indexed pages
i think pinging your site can help a lot in indexing you pages
