In one of the threads I noted someone said you start with a high ranking just because you a new site with fresh content and then fall off the top spot because your not so new anymore?

But then opposed to this people are saying that it's got nothing to do with content but everything to do with BL's and only the quality of them?

Which one is true and if it is true what are the guidelines??? Why doesn't Google give out definitive answers? I'll stop there as I've got too many question marks in this already!

Content matters highly for ranking in certain keywords. Title tag, and keyword density (in content, and code) are very important.

Backlinks are important for PAGERANK, but is one of the last things Google looks at to rank a site for a keyword.

Your answer: Both matter, but for ranking of a certain keyword, focus on your content. New pages, as long as they are out of the google sandbox, dont have higher rankings due to the fact that they are new.

Google doesnt show this info, else it would make it so easy for people like us to come in and snatch up keyword ranks, while non-SEO webmasters suffer.

Yep, content is important in ranking. When your content is fresh & with targeted keywords then it helps in getting high ranking. While, for high PR backlinks are important.

One may have to explain what the influence of
1. Page Rank
2. Good keyword content
is. What the effects, relationship between them?


i.e. Someone types keyphrase1 into google and starts a search. Google lists the websites in sequence. websiteA is listed in google.
What influence has Page Rank on the position of websiteA ?
What influence has good keyword content on the position of websiteA ?

If you have very high popularity keywords , say
"make money" for example, and you wanted to get higher rankings in google by making your keywords less specific.

e.g. "how to make money online today", which would rank you higher as less other sites would use it. Would you actaully have yo have that phrase on your site for it to work?

If the site was made to make money, then "make money" would appear with a good density, but it is not very likely that "how to make money online today" would appear at all.

Content is king as far as Google knowing what the hell your website is about: Your Keywords and more specifically your exact keyword/s have to be in a high density but 'relevant' to the other content on the page for example having a page full of the sentences "showreel showreels show reels showreel showreels show reels showreel showreels show reels" Google's going to know that your messing with it!

Your content has got to be updated regularly, and be much'o nice'o as far as relevance to your subject.

BL's (Back Links) are the king as far as getting your site up the ranking: More importantly the quality of the links and the PR (Page Rank) of the site that they are going from

The links out of your site count against you: The algorithm that Google uses to determine your page Rank and relevance is brought down by OL (outwards Links) that you have on your site?
