I enabled a javascript that disables the right click function on my website. I'm a photographer and put the javascript code in my site to prevent my photographs from being stolen, however the javascript I have affects the whole page (not just images) so that nothing can be right clicked. Will this affect the ability of Google and other search engines from reading text and keywords on my site webpages?

I'm new to webdesign and the forum so I appreciate all of the help I can get. Thanks!

I don't see why javascirpt would effect your website ranking. Only way i think i would effect it would be because of spam java or something like that.

I have personally worked on sites that I implemented this on, and didnt notice any side effects from the anti right click java code.

google can't read java script ... i don;t think so.

yep google can't read JS codes however its wise to seperate the JS codes form your page to lessen the file size of the page

I cant imagine Google using a web browser to crawl websites.

I can not see any reason why they would make their bots have javascript capabilities.

I would however question the point of having a JavaScript to stop people right clicking your page, anyone with half an ounce of intelligence would turn off javascript from their browser and take what they want.

You would be better off putting a transparent picture slightly bigger than your picture on top of it, sorry I dont know how its done just read about it somewhere.

It is best to put all your javascript codes to an external file. Keeping the html page as neat and clean may be helpful for the crawler to understand better about the content of your page.

Google Webmaster Central, Microsoft Small Business Center, and Yahoo Help Search should be able to provide you some good info.

In the area of web design, you may want to explore xhtml with css stylesheet. Still web content is King, next comes the in-bound quality links (or vote).

Which I'm sure is redirected page is effecting search engines

Google bots finds difficult to read javascriot page and may leave your page,
Also disabling rightclick will irritate some of your visitors, because they may use rightclicks for getting back or front.

To protect your images i will suggest you to watermark all of them, i think it is the only way....

This does not affect the ability of google or any other search engine from reading your web pages contents or keywords. Having the right click disabled is a good idea to protect your pictures, however I do strongly suggest you as well to add a water mark which will completely protect them from being stolen.

javascripts never affect page ranking but if u r using frames then ur page rank can get afected!
