It really does depend on how you go about your article marketing campaigns. Using the same article that you have in your blog in the article directories could get you duplicate content 'penalty'

But as long as the article is first indexed on your blog before you submit it to any directories, your blog should be okay

Some of us use articles that are totally different in our article marketing and save our best content for our sites and blogs

Better to posting unique content, articles are more helps increase the traffic.

Google likes articles. Article is a best way Google get unique content. But submitting same article to lots of article directories is not flavored by Google. But it will not hurt the listing. Duplicate article will listed under supplementary results.

I can give you some tips on how not to write duplicate content. When you do article submitting, change the word order, change the words to their synonums, change active forms into passive and - no duplicate.

You can make unique content, if you post duplicate then your articles won’t get indexed in Google, and penalize your site/blog.
