Supposedly Google is updating Page Rank as we speak, has anyone seen a change?

I saw a site move from 7 to a 6, so maybe.

...for the change to happen. but nothing so far on my site! BUT: a friend had a significant increase in the number of google-backlinks in the last days...... so lets hope!

Yes, all my sites got their PR updated but its far away from what I've expected... The oldest/austria from sig./, with most/of course unique/ content and with most links site, got only PR2/predicted 4/,only on its homepage and now seems that 90-95% of its pages are supplemental!?!?!?
Other/australia from sig./ with twice less content and a bit fewer links got PR3, almost sitewide.
And the newest/bulgaria-trips.info/ with really poor content and several times fewer links to it got PR4 on most of its pages, but PR0 on the homepage!
Can someone explain this to me???
However, maybe the update is not finished yet, as I saw the first changes on some data-centers yesterday...

So what should this mean for my site and it's placing in google?

PageRank Display that you see in the toolbar is usually 3 months late...so it doesn't mean anything for your rankings. The real PR is changing everyday by Google.

only backlink change on my site, PR no change, remains as is

For me, i haven't been doing much SEO since that last PR update. I have noticed that i am getting a lower page rank as a visit my own site (0) from my original rank (5). I hope this is just something temporary...
As for backlinks, i went from 20 to 15. Something wrong? I hope not...
Performance on Google. I used to be listed on page 6 for "decorative pillows" but now its popping up at page 7 and sometimes not at all. But the number of visitors are the same.
I hope my site isnt going down...This is probably because i haven't done anything since the last PR update.
Ugh.

It might be more due to the fact that other websites that are trying to move up have been doing SEO. Not necessarily that you haven't been doing anything. If everybody did nothing, we would all stay in the same position.
When I notice my site dropping for keywords, I start scrambling to exchange links...it usually helps when the bots crawl again.

PR on my site has gone from a 4 to a 5. Position on google has gone down. It makes no sense - does it?

PR and your keyword positions are not related. Just because your PR goes up doesn't mean that your listings will improve.

viradian is right there so many site having pr 1 or 2 then too they are listed on top! so pr is not imp for improving ur listing its ur traffic and others factors
