One page, two PRs.

Hi all,
Google treats www.mysite.com/default.asp , www.mysite.com/ , mysite.com/ and mysite.com/default.asp as deferent pages though all of them are the same. Is there any way to tell google that all these are one? The pagerank for each url can defer too.
Did anyone notice this? Is this all right?

This happens not only for the first page, but all default page in folders.

Agree, creating a google webmaster account can solve PR problem especially when it comes to priority of URL for "http://www.yoursite.com" and "http://yoursite.com" (without www). You can set there which one you consider the first priority.

But if you have problem for example with URL "http://www.yoursite.com/defaul.asp" then I think it's also a good idea to get rid of all references to this URL within your website, pointing them to "http://www.yoursite.com" instead.

Redirect all forms of your home url using 301 redirect, it will tell spider that all pages are one and the same.

also i don't think that different browser would show different results.

They all are pointing to the same page, but google considers them as different.

I dont think that different browsers will show different results. But as google pulls result frm different servers, result may vary between requests.

I noticed from a forum discussion that different browser say IE and FireFox could give different result from Google.

hmmmmm. why is that, if they are pulling from same search engine.

Pick one and stick with it, as previously stated let Google know which one you want indexed and also make sure that you have no navigation on your site to the version you are not using, try and make sure all links point to the one you are using as well.
