Argh - Google has replaced my page title and description!

For years google has listed my page titles and descriptions in the search engine.
But I just came across my page and the index page is listed as a load of words (I'm guessing those key words I originally submitted) replacing the title!
It only seems to be my index page that's been changed.
Has anyone come across this? Any ideas?

If you go to google (UK anyway) and type in "paranormal investigators" it's the sixth entry down.

I've just checked on yahoo and it appears as normal on there..

It might be pulling it from DMOZ if you're listed there. If you are, check to see what information they have for your title, etc. If not, then further research is required.

I have faced these problems several times last year for few of my sites.
The answer is that your site's title & meta description are not changed by Google rather they are extracted from DMoz.org or Open directory project.
Checking process:
-----------------------
Open
http://dmoz.org/
In the search box give your website's URL (Without
http://www.) and search; you will see your site is listed under a category where the Title & Description Tags are different with your site's current meta & title tags.
==## Google uses open directory project's result with their search results for the relevancy of search result; and in this process it extract titles from Dmoz.org) ##==
If you want Google not change you Title & Meta Description tags: use the following Meta Tag:

hgupta thanks for your input I had the same situation, I have a number one listing in google for panic alarms and the description and title were different to the ones on the site.
Having looked at DMOZ it is listed there as the search result is listed.
Its a bit misleading as stun guns are illegal in the UK and I do not sell them but it is nice to have a number 1 listing so no complaints.
Google moves in mysterious ways.
