Why my internal pages have lower PR

Hi guys,
my website
http://www.britishdevelopments.com got PR 4 and the internal pages got PR3 now
http://www.britishdevelopments.com got the same PR but the internal pages got PR 0 could someone explain to me what's going on

That is a normal incident. Some of your pages get higher PR and other pages get lower PR. By optimizing the pages that you have lower PR you will be able to get higher PR.

deeplinks is the key to gain PR in your subpages! the more it has many and related links,, the more it will gain PR!

Deeplinks is the way to go. So get a few good pr inbound links not to
www.widgets.com but to
www.widgets.com/wadgets.htm or
www.widgets.com/wadgets/ based on whatever your site scheme is layed out.
I would suggest getting links to more relevant pages which may be 2-5 clicks in with low outbounds, which are currently getting crawled less from your homepage.

What is the recommended number of inbound links to subpages? I know that the more the better, but is there a minimum number I should be shooting for?

Depends on the quality of links you are getting and the competitiveness of the keywords on the subpages. If you want an exact figure just lookup pr calculator in google and it has a formula that estimates how pr is calculated.

Also, if your deeper pages are newer they might have some PR but the PR green bar is still not updated.

That is normal because which page will be searched by search engine that will have more pr and which will displayed more time that has more back links.
If you want to increase PR for those pages then submit their links to free/paid directories which will get some back links and up rank in SERPS

It is common,every internal pages have less PR then main page.But you can minimize the difference by inter linking every pages.

In order to increase the PR of internal pages you can submit your website in directories accepting deep link submissions and link your website low PR internal pages to home page and high rank pages and write some articles for internal pages.

Addition to above suggestions you should do good navigation so each page will get access from any page of your site so it will create interlinking within your site. Still deep link submissions are must!
