Hi,

Is it possible that a website have a pagerank of 3 without having a single backlink ? It is a relatively new website ( about 6-8 months ) and full flash too.

I can't explain it. Do you have ideas ? I am simply curious.

I think there should be one or above back link since it's a site with PR 3. Maybe it's because of updating, backlinks have not been shown correctly.

Flash site can also get high PR but not good SERP.

That's right, it could be fake PR or tricks, but if Google catch it that site will be banned, then it will take a long time to get back with ranking.

Flashes on the site are nice looking. The only think you should remember, Google needs CONTENT but not mostly images for a good SERP.
Now about backlinks. They are extremily important showing to Google your website popularity. I doubt, if the site doesn't have backlinks, it is possible to get even PR3 without using some tricks .

It might have some back links but the SEs aren't still showing them. That happens all the time. You can get a PR3 just by doing a comprehensive directory submission.

Backlinks also take some time to get updated also in google ....( i guess) backlinks less then PR3 are not shown ( correct me if i am wrong)

it happens... that's why others says on-page matters

There has to be a t least one link pointing to a site to get a PR rank.

Google don't index sites that don't have backlinks

It occures that a "nice" guy redirect one of his parking domain to a higher for instance PR5 site. At the forthcoming PR update google will give the higher PR to the redirected domain. The "nice" is very happy particularly when he manage to buy it for a nice cash. The problem is that google won't show that domain as query result, since it knows that there was a redirection.

You can get a PR3 with no backlinks either due to on-page factors or just age of forum (as long as it is indexed, either you submitted or some point in the past it was crawled).

Also, sometimes not all backlinks are shown by Google (but you may have, say Yahoo backlinks). Google doesn't "share all" anymore as far as backlinks go.

Just check to see if the site is OLD. It might not be fake PR if it's old.

It's all down to domain name age, it plays an important part in SEO.

you could have a strong internal link structure. I've seen stories where people didn't even have that many backlinks to their site, but because they're internal link structure was so strong, they were able to beat out most of their competition when it came to google search engine result listings.

I believe you can't get a PR3 if you don't a any single back links... I didn't experience it yet,, but il try that someday...
