Wondering what everyone suggest in how to promote my website in local searches for our town?

If you are promoting your business locality then look for available and free sources locally. There are plenty of geotarget directories and article directories out there that you can used. There are also many local forums, free classifieds sites and media networks spreading around.

If you had a hard time looking for geotarget based sites where you can placed your link, you have to be resourceful enough when doing a search. Used your own Google country extension like Google.co.uk if you are residing or promoting your site on UK areas to achieve a more relevant and precise results.

The key here is include your location on the anchor text of your links. Look for local directories too and submit your site there, or you can even exchange link or promote your site to other sites even away from your place but make sure they are relevant to your site and get link with proper anchor text...

Better search a local website that is popular in your place and do a link exchange!

Include local city name in your web pages and titles. Also add your site to google map.
