I have been struggling with this particular client of mine who wishes to make some changes in his website. Though, the website hasn’t been doing well and we need to make the changes, the client is suggesting changes that might get the website penalized in the first place. I don’t like the ideas that have been suggested for the modifications and the client isn’t able to see the displeasure on my face while hearing his suggestions. Is there a way for me to convince the client that his suggestion might destroy his website even more than before? Does anyone have any suggestions?

there are instances that your website will not be penalize at all you can minimize the optimization of you knew that you're doing some spamming and some black hat thing, just show them and explain to them the consequence of their suggestion

you might wanna try to find that particular thing that your client want on google as a black hat tactic and send it to him, also you might wanna let him know that he hired you to do seo for him, that means he have no clue about it.

Better if you show examples and proofs of what might happen to his site when those "bad" methods being implemented.
