I am new to SEO and i am assigned the task to make a website popular, so please tell me which paid directory is most effective in this sense to increase traffic. thanks in advance

I would prefer free directories. You should also try to submit your site in free directories as much as you can. Google doesn't give much importance to paid links.

Well you has asked about paid web directory but therefor I'll suggest you to go for free directory submission. Because escaping some all are time and money wasted. So you easily go for free directory.

Actually, I don't think paid directories is effective. It would be better if you will just use free directory with high PR, so you can generate backlinks from them. Aside from that, It would be better if you will do other SEO campaign such as bookmarking, blog commenting or forum posting. Since these methods are very effective in making your site boosted in search engines.

First of all, Google is the great innovator and it has nice services. The output from google is so accurate that i haven't seen in other search engines. Google is really the leader of all search engines.
