Good tips indeed but link building with articles should be moderate nowadays and should ensure quality to make it effective, low quality articles are just ignored by Google.

For link exchange, its better that you exchange links with sites that allow link exchange, i.e. sites that have a resources page or links page in them and the sites should be similar to the content of your site. There's no point in exchanging links with a site that is travel agency when your site deals with website development.

Nice tips. However, I don't think directory submissions helps in SEO. I prefer to use other link building campaign such as bookmarking. Since, directory takes time to approved your submitted content.

With new algo of Google I don't think directory submission works great for SEO whether paid or not paid. It's always better to get contextual links for your site. Anyway your tips seem really great!
