Well, they are separate businesses using different systems for evaluating websites - why would they give the same results?

They are definitely different search engine company with different algorithm technology. There is no sense when they are the same..

Agreed with jhonsean. They Both having different algorithm to rank a site on particular keyword thats why only.

The answer is simple: because Google is totally different from Yahoo, and they have different algorithms that's why your ranking in Google is different from Yahoo.

Just like what others have mentioned, search engines has its own algorithm. By this reason, sites has different ranking in every search engines. Like with yahoo that it counts all back links both do-follow and no-follow links. Unlike with google that only do-follow links are counted.

Because they both have their own algorithm to rank any webpage.
