main difference between SMO and SEM?

hello,
i am little confuse in both term sem and smo
please explain me how to differentiate these term

SEM is for marketing using different marketing methods like classified ads, paid ads and other ways to introduce your product/services. SMO has something to do with optimizing and complying your media materials to make them more indexable by search engines.

in my point of view both SEM and SMO have different roles and importance so both of them have importance!!

SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing and SMO is Social media Optimization. It comes under SEM.

SEM = Search Engine Marketing (All aspects of marketing through search engine)
SMO = Social Media Optimization (All aspects of getting advantage from social media sites)

Search engine optimization & search engine marketing both the terms actually refer to two different parts of the same marketing scheme.SEM is a much broader term than SEO, and actually includes SEO as one of its techniques. SEM is all that a company can do to advertise itself on a search engine, including paid inclusion and other ads.
