I heard that having a sitemap in website would be beneficial in terms of SEO.Does anyone tell me which benefits we can get from sitemap creation?

If you want your website to be crawled on regular basis and if you want your website to be crawled and indexed properly, the need of sitemap is must!

I agree with you. If you are going to promote a old website then there is no need for you to create a XML site map using tool. Whereas if you are promoting the new website then you should create site map and should submit it in the Google web master tool.

Sitemap is essential for optimizing and indexing site for it contains all links to your site for bot's easier indexing, plus visitors guide to other sections of your site.
