This is interesting because recently I was recently promoting a site, increasing backlinks for it and I noticed that most of them were showing up on Yahoo but not Google. However, the site hit the second page for my favored search terms on Google, but this didn't happen for Yahoo!

I can only conclude that Google is recording the backlinks but not saying so. Also, that Yahoo either gives less weight to them (even though it shows more of them), or there's some other difference in the algorithms that caused the discrepancy.

Just start make your linking plans going. Never stop and look back if Google shows it all or not because G never shows all.
Yahoo gives you the whole details on how many backlinks you have on your site. But in google, you can only see the number of backlinks once google has already finished the backlink update.

This means that all links we make and yahoo show them and google not shaw, is not useless, and they use them to make Site PageRank, is it true?

Google is protecting your site from your competitors that's why it doesn't show all your backlinks.

google is not showing the total backlinks due competitors might abuse and take the advantage of analyzing other competitors backlinks and use them to build their own....
