If your site has good backlinks from other sites which were already listed in lycos, it'll automatically fetch your site to include into their index.

I think that in the other side your right, cause I have a lot of site that i personally submit to the SE', they didn't give me a feedback. But others did.
I think we to search for the best SE' so that all the site that we submit will possibly get noticed.

Why don't you concentrate on major SEs? Oh well, you can always make sure if your site has been submitted if it has been crawled/indexed by major SEs.

Lycos no longer has its own search engine. They use windows live for the search results.
Do not submit, its always best to get a link from a site that is already in the index and then get crawled. If you are in google, you will eventually end up in the others as the SE's crawl each other.

Submitting your site may be a risk too so first make sure you are aware from all the pros and cons and then go a head...
