Hi,
I had submitted to few directories through submit express and few more.I find my back links sky rocketting within few days.Now i am really surprised to see that it is going down in a horrifying rate.

My question is why this is happening? Or we need to submit repeatedly to directories? If yes what should be the frequency in a year or month.

Not repeatedly to the same directory, they will not accept two entry of the same website thought some directory do that but that's just spammy, here's a list of updated directory http://www.directorycritic.com/

Directory avoids spamming,, they do not allow two entries under the same domain,, it will show up like this,, "Domain already exist in the directory".

I think few directories do not pay a good role and they delete your site after few months. That is not good. It could be bad for both directory as google is recognizing techniques used for selling links.

I think they work. You just need to submit to a lot of them.

I have been submitting to quite a few directories, and they do seem to work.

This is just a hunch, but I think it's best if you vary your link building campaigns as much as possible. That is, submit to directories for a while, then focus on commenting on blogs, then write some articles, some forum posts, then back to directories again. Then you're not putting all your eggs into one basket. (Also helps to keep boredom at bay.)

Also, it tells the search engines you're bona fide. I read somewhere that if you do too many of one kind of submission (eg, blog comments) at once it might make Google look at you as a possible spammer.

Yes, i totally agree with Offline and Online Marketing in Sydney. This is indeed the correct approach. Why do people think that you need to re submit every ten seconds of the day. I would like to add to this thread, read (yes, i know it's boring!) the submission guidelines of each and every directory. That way, you can follow all the rules and no one can delist your site! Howzat???

Quite true then lately you'll notice you have more than one link accepted on a certain directory.

i don't think so because i consider directories as a new generation link farms because due to massive site submissions everyday, they can't monitor sites one by one.

The lesson that we get here is that we need to check first if our site is already included in their database.. don't resubmit your site because they might detect your site as spam and you may probably get banned..

I don't think that your site could be banned because of resubmission, because if it did then it means that you can resubmit concurrents site and "help" him to get banned in directory

Mate this is a very boring process and won't take you anywhere near the competitive keywords.

you are correct, submitting does really work but be sure to submit to a proper category.
