Ironic really, I myself am an editor at DMOZ and can't even get my own music site listed

I wouldn't forget DMOZ, I would submit and then pray one day it will work. I surley would not get my hopes up of actually getting listed though.

Dmoz is dead whether you forget or not. Link farms won't be a part of internet future

Editors do their job to feel that they have some sort of power to make webmasters' life harder. Anybody who didn't think to join the army, police
or to become a dictator -he wouldn't apply for a dmoz editor

I got an email recently on reply to become editor
Here is it!
Thank you for your interest in becoming an Open Directory Project editor!
Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have
chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than
we typically assign to a new editor. We would encourage you to re-apply
for a category that has fewer editors or is smaller in scope, in order
to increase your chances of being accepted.

Feel free to reapply by submitting an application in another area.
If you wish to re-apply, you must fill out another application.
Please do not reply to this email.
But surpising thing was that the category was really not well developed. there were only 7 links and there were no Editors!! i don't know how they approve new editors??
Firstly, I doubt the report on the research server you linked to give you the information about how many applications were rejected. That's not public information, and I don't even think they keep track of it.

Secondly, you weren't turned down because the categoy had too many editors. The reason you were turned down is because the category is too large for a new editor. Since it only has 7 listed sites, it has many, many more in unreviewed, or is a highly spammed area. Either way, they don't want to overwhelm new editors with large categories - large also counting what's in unreviewed.

I would not waste my time tying to be a dmoz editor or even getting listed there. Once they have things back in order the way it was in the beginning then I may take another look, but for now I will just use other more valuable resources.

When was the last time you made an edit? If you don't make an edit within 120 days then your account will automatically time out and you'll have to apply for reinstatement. Just logging in and not editing doesn't count, you must make at least 1 edit every 120 days or the system will automatically remove you from your account.

What was the message you got when you tried to log in? If it wasn't a message telling you that you were removed as an editor, and it will be obvious, with a bunch of general reasons why, then it's most likely that you weren't removed, but automatically timed out of your account. Try applying for reinstatement if you timed out. If you don't hear anything within 14 days then check your status at the resource-zone site.
