addgoodsites.com and outlookdirectory.com is good directory submission site. It is free directory submission site and gives instant approval of your submission. I am getting 4 to 6 users per day from here.

What are some bad directories to stay away from?

I don't think directories are a very good choice nowadays. Natural high DA are more worth the time.

Best directory are
1.w3catalog
2.annar
3.loadspy

Those are some pretty good seo's i just used them not too long ago.
