Directory submit not worthwhile?

I run a table tennis information website and online shop. Now table tennis is quite a niche market and only has a very small presence on the web. In fact there are very few sites with PR more than 4.

I've looked at many directories, only some have a table tennis category, but even the ones that have one (or a related catagory like 'sports'), the actual page that the links are on virtually always have a PR of 0 (even though the home page is much higher).

So I'm wondering if submiiting my url to many directories is really worthwhile?

Thanks for any help!

As long as you use the right anchor text, and you place it in a category that is some what relevant then you should be fine.

Directories will help you improve your link popularity...a lot of directories will accept your site just put it on a somewhat related category...it'll bring you traffic and there are some directories with PR that might leak to you...and those that don't well maybe later they will...hehe...just improve you link popularity and use your targeted keywords as your anchor text that way it'll help you on your SERPs...the more sites linking to you with that keyword the better you will get on SERPs...

also focus on some good high PR forums and blogs, contribute with your feedback in them with your link in signature. This will make your site popular and you may get traffic.
IMO don't just concentrate in building PR but also on getting traffic.

Directory submission is worth it will give you site back links and traffic for your site. And also try to link one way, link exchange and forum posting with related site.

[1] Select right directories.
[2] Use Keywords Rich Titles - Wherever allowed
[3] Wait until Google index.

It is obviously helpful, but depends on how you doing it.
I agree with that just chose quality directory before you submit.

Remember that not all directory have same value, better check for it's PR, it's category, it's age, it's database etc......

old age directories are better....
