Link Farm is a number of web pages have been built for increasing the number of incoming links to a specific web site. The idea of this is to increase the search engine ranking and link popularity.

a link farm is any group of web pages that all hyperlink to every other page in the group. A link farm is a form of spamming the index of a search engine (sometimes called spamexing or spamdexing).

Link Farms are fake-content directory web sites that are set up just to provide links to one another. This artificially boost up their search rankings.

We must avoid this activities because If the search engines find your link in such a farm, even if you know nothing about it, your search ranking can be penalized.
