The battle of CPC versus CPM has come to the forefront now that online advertising is reaching maturity. ... (CPC means Cost per Click ads, while CPM means Cost-Per-Thousand Impressions of the ad.) Assume that you bid $1.00/click for your CPC ad and commit to a $2,500 budget. You are guaranteed 2,500 clicks.

CPM provides better CPC if you have insights on how your ads work. If the ad works good, CPM is a more cost-effective way to gain clicks, visits and other conversions than bluntly paying for them with CPC. If ads not working as much as expected than CPC is better. Both have their own benefits depending on your strategy.
