After I changed my site http://www.guidebuy.com from ASP to Joomla CMS system, I always get a "404 not found" error when using META TAG ANALYZER. Anyboy know why?

What is your index page called? try putting the full address of your index page like:

http://www.guidebuy.com/index.html
or
http://www.guidebuy.com/index.asp

I put the full address http://www.guidebuy.com/index.php and got the same error. I activated Mod rewrite for search engine friendly URL. Does it matter?

Mod_rewrite wont effect the index page so it shouldnt matter that you have done that. I have never seen that error before with this tool.

If you need to know why it is possibly doing that, you should ask "Submit," one of the forum admins for a possible answer.

Oh just a suggestion, I would remove the word "HOME" from your index page title at the end. You should have your MOST important keywords at the beginning, so if you made it "Your One Stop Online Shopping Guide - GuideBuy" it may be more SE friendly and get better results for you in the end. Just my opinion though you dont have to change it.

I also think it should be Mod_rewrite problem on my new hosting server. My site is hosted on an open source CMS system "Joomla" with SEF (search engine friendly URL through Appache Mod_rewrite) function. When the SEF is turned off, it's no problem using the Meta Tag Analyzer Tool. But when SEF is turned on, I get 404 error.

I also contacted my hosting company for help. They think it's the problem from Meta Tag Analyzer. Following is their response:

We have checked and found out that you are using SEO SEF URLs in the Mambo application. The issue you are facing could be related to them.

Please, provide us with URLs you have used and they returned 404 errors in order to check further.

It's ok with SEF turned off.

Is it the Meta Tag Analyzer problem or Joomla SEF bug? I also think it's very odd.

2006-02-13 08:47am by dave - This issue could be related to the analyzer - it seems that it cannot follow mod_rewrite rules application is using to create URLs.

Once you are done with the meta tag analysis tool, you can enable the SEO SEF URLs again.

2006-02-13 08:50am by dave - It is the tool - if you supply a full URL (when the SEO SEF is enabled) it will parse it, but for some reason the tool cannot load main page.

Once you are done with the meta tag analysis tool, you can enable the SEO SEF URLs again.

Whenever you want to check just turn Off the option. When you are finished checking turn the SEF urls back on (don't forget to turn them back on). This will have to do until a clear solution has been established.

I have used the tool on other sites with MOD_rewrite turned on and it seems it worked fine, however it was not Joomla that was being used.

Could be the tool is not compatible with that specific Rewrite Rule, or it could be something else? Does your site pass W3C Validation?

My hosting company is trying to move my website to other server. Following is their answer:
