Here is a suggestion. Take a close look at http://www.fastcommerce.com .It is low-cost, high-powered e-commerce platform for small business or home based business. Easy to use!!! Beautiful templates! Great back office tools!!! no set up costs!!! and no contract!!!

Hmm, before anyone rushes off to sign up for a free e-commerce site I'd like to pass on a sober remind that you get what you pay for in this world. You can already get decent free ecommerce software and install it on your website through web hosting companies that only cost a few hundred a year. Maybe some extra programming and maintenance fees. In the scheme of things a couple hundred to a couple thousand a year is pennies to run an online storefront that could be host to millions of customers whereas you pay many thousands per year for a store front in a key location to serve maybe a few thousand customers. (depending)

Need I remind anyone not to cut corners when you're dealing with your clients financial data. You're responsible to keep your clients information safe. That includes online data they submit through your website - so you should be very careful about hosting with reliable, known and trustworthy outfits.

IMHO

Clifdodger is right... you need to think carefully before making your e-commerce decisions. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to invest time and money into your solution to avoid major headaches down the road.

i'm new to all this but it sounds really dangerous to use free ecommerce software without knowing where it's coming from and doing research on the company first. if someone's credit card info gets stolen then i think you will be liable for not keeping the information secure. either way i agree with the above two posters -- this is not a good area to be taking shortcuts.

This sounds really great and all,
but doing a little research won't hurt.
Free just sounds suspicious to me.
