If you see any change on your site's PR bar, that means an update.

I should clarify my first response...even if you don't notice any changes on your site, that doesn't mean updates aren't occuring...most members of this forum, once they see a link update or Page Rank update will do a post letting people know.

I've seen a Page Rank and link update to one of my sites in the last two weeks, and one of my other sites didn't change at all....

Most signs of Google PR update are the google dance which sites unexpectedly changing in their serp rankings and the changes in backlinks.. No one knows when Google PR update occur, before it happens every quarter of the year but in the last months and year, minor update happens like few times a month.

Often we saw some update on Google if we have these changes in our sites PR as well as addition or dropping of Google Backlinks. It takes about 3-4 months when Google do their updates.

You can see the changes in PR, and in the number of visitors and so on.

viradian is right!

Webmaster usually update it in webmaster forums if Google update! And in my experience, if my indexed links in Google change.

If your other site is not get any PR or links from Google that means Google have not found any change in your site and quality or may be Google want some changes in your site.
