Does a text of the URL count as link?

If a url is written on a website but only as text i.e not a link will google count it in PR calculations?

Sometimes you might need to use URL as a text within your content, but you will do it with only one purpouse,- to stop search engines from counting that link for your site popularity, because sometimes the links could not help raising your PR, and even in some cases they might do bad things for your site (for example, if that URL links to the banned site, or that is gambling or SPAM link which has no relationship to your site, etc.) So, there is no point to use that URL as link.

But, if that URL is relevant to your site, and even better has higher PR than yours, I think you should use it as link.

Yeah they are right, all links count towards PageRank, but they do have to be links, having your URL listed can help your domain name visability and SEOmoz page strength though.

Agree, all links count towards PageRank, but only some of them decrease PageRank. So, you should avoid link exchange with bad sites, like adult sites, gambling, etc. You have to be picky with links.

If link is a simple text i.e no link then how it can be caunt fo PR.I don't think that google will count it as link.

Yes it is not a link then will not help to increase PR but it will definitely help to increase your Domain visibility which also important as far as SEO is concerned.
