Google PANDA algorithm is targeted to find out the spammers who are using black-hat techniques to improve their ranking in Google SERP. In PANDA update, Google is giving most importance to quality & unique content and penalizing the sites those are using duplicate & low quality thin contents.

Even the importance of on-site design & on-site factors goes high. Without proper on-site optimization, a site can't go to first page of Google. I'll advise to make your site design good, add high quality contents in the site & use less advertisements in the site as more ads means your ranking will be down.
