high page rank with not many links

This site: www.betfairpromo.com has PR 5 but not many backlinks at all. only 23 in google and most seem to be from the same site (soccerbetting.info).

Does this mean its possible to get a high page rank with lots of link from the same site? I couldn't actually see the link on soccerbetting.

I am not surprised. That site is 4.5 years old and has 51.981 backlinks and Alexa rank 87.499.

The submit express link popularity check only shows 104 backlinks.

backlinks given by google when you're checking link popularity are just sample backlinks, they have the actual numbers of backlinks and ofcourse site age matters!

I think the google backlinks, rather than being a sample are the quality most relevant links that you have to your site. Wheras other search engines count all links.

Very true, Google emphasizes more on the quality of the back links over their quantity. However, PR is just an authoritative indication and not the prime factor for SEO.

I cannot agree. Command link:domainname.com in Google doesn't show really all related and important links for my site. It shows links from forums and no-related sites as well.

I saw a site has PR 6, but it only has 8 backlinks when i use "link:www.domainname.com". Google doesn't show all the backlinks. Especially when google is updating it's databases, backlinks check always show incorrect number.

google only updates the public backlinks about every 3 months same as page rank

I think Google liks new sites as well if they have good content. They are fresh in any case. My four months" old side is spidered by Google every four day now. It got PR4 this update

On google try ::www.mydomain.com

Not sure what the difference is, but on link pop we show 5 google links (never been more than 9) and got a PR4
