Around the world, most English lessons are taught by teachers whose first language is not English. If you are such a teacher, or you are about to enter the profession then you can deepen your knowledge of the subject and develop your teaching skills by choosing one of the Overseas Teachers of English course.
Before the beginning of the course, candidates who are already practising as a teacher are invited to take a set of directives of self-observation in order to encourage them to analyse their own performance while being surrounded by their own teaching atmosphere in a class. These self-observation directives should be submitted at the outset of the course to the Course Director. This will help get better understanding about every teacher and help during the course.
The observation during the lessons where students studying from all over the world, will give participants the opportunity to explore the roles of observer and 'observee', to outline stages of a lesson and to see classroom management as well as teaching techniques in practice. Before the start of the course, all the candidates receive a list of references where they can seek information (nevertheless, it is not a mandatory requirement to read these materials in order to complete the course).
At the end of the course, all the participants will receive a certificate, with details of the course dates, the number of course hours, and details of topics covered. In addition they will receive a detailed and personalised report from the Course Director with suggestions for further professional development.
