is there a tool available online which can help me generate meta tags, title and description for a page? can you give me some tips to do it manually.?

I suggest that you don't rely much on automated tools...

They are mostly not accurate at all.

SEOBook has an online Meta Tag Tool: http://tools.seobook.com/meta-medic/. But I agree with KrazyG, making your own metatags is so much better. Nothing beats the manual way of doing it.

I dont use any tools for meta tags but I personally recommend this tools.

In my opinion, the only meta tags that have influence in SEO are the descriptions and robots meta tags. Meta keywords tag is nearly useless, for it is not considered by major search engines in site ranking. It won't hurt a lot if you would make meta descriptions tag manually. Just describe your site, or a particular webpage, and include your major keywords in it, but not too much for it will appear as if you are stuffing keywords. And make it comprehensive and human-language-friendly. Last is to limit your descriptions to around 150 to 160 characters. Meta robots tag is used if you would not want a webpage to be indexed by search engine crawlers, and it is quite easy to code.

Check out the google adwords keyword tool, it won't write your META tags for you but it will give you the best idea about what people are actually searching for and therefor what you should be optimising for.
